Description | Citation typed |
Citation | Professor Turner has made major contributions to the understanding of many basic processes in geophysical fluid dynamics, particularly in the atmosphere and oceans. His work is characterized by the use of imaginative laboratory experiments and related theory. His important studies of turbulent convection, entrainment in stratified flows mixing across density interfaces and double diffusive convection are widely known and applied in several areas of science and engineering and his monograph "Buoyancy effects in fluids" gives and authoritative review of this field of research. |
