Citation | Distinguished for his theoretical researches in elementary particle physics. Very early, he derived parton model sum rules, confirming them later from Light-Cone Algebra, enabling a direct deduction of quark parameters from experimental data. At all stages, he has contributed significantly to our understanding of gauge theories, emphasizing graphical structure. He has also calculated in much detail their empirical implications; indeed his work has had a profound influence on our present assessment of future accelerator projects. Most recently, using a QCD (quantum chromodynamics) perturbative approach, he has predicted correctly the major characteristics of deviations from scaling in high-energy lepton-hadron interactions. His approach to problems of elementary particle physics has always been unusually penetrating and clear. |
