Citation | The work of Aldous in probability theory has been characterised by a combination of remarkable stochastic insight and powerful mathematical technique. He first showed this by solving an old problem about partial exchangeability, which turned out to be much deeper than had been supposed. His later contributions, to Markov and random walk theory, to random trees and graphs, and to Poisson limit theory, have shown the same qualities of surprise and depth as his first major theorem, while many of his papers provide solutions to hard problems in information technology and biology. |
