CitationJames Crow is one of the world's leading geneticists, still active after a career spanning sixty years. His most notable contributions include development of the theory of genetic load and several influential mathematical models of neutral variation, and the measurement of the impact of deleterious mutations on the fitness of fruitfly and human populations. He is co-author of the standard advanced text on theoretical population genetics, and has had a dominant influence on the field through his students and colleagues.
