DescriptionCertificate of Candidate for Election to the Fellowship
CitationProfessor Peter Horton
Peter Horton is a plant biologist distinguished for his integration of photosynthetic processes, from the molecule to the biosphere. A highly cited researcher in plant and animal sciences, Horton's world leadership is based on his insightful hypotheses supported by elegant experimental demonstrations of the transformations that enable the photosynthetic apparatus to deal efficiently with limiting light and to dissipate excess light during environmental stress. His research is on the crest of a wave, making distinctive, wide ranging contributions to photosynthesis across the boundaries between biophysics, structural biology into physiology, ecophysiology and agriculture.
