TitleMcLeish, Thomas Charles Buckland: certificate of election to the Royal Society
Date19 May 2011
DescriptionCertificate of Election
CitationThomas McLeish is recognised for his outstanding contributions to increased understanding of the molecular and micro-structural mechanisms that underlie macroscopic phenomena in Soft Condensed Matter. His theoretical work has been widely influential in reaching practical models of dynamics of entangled polymer molecules, especially topologically complex molecules, leading to full prediction of rheological behaviour, as well as developing molecular models of shear banding in complex fluids and for microphase separation in polymer blends. In his recent work he is achieving similar interdisciplinary success in developing models for the statistical mechanics of amyloid peptide aggregation.
