Date | 9 May 2018 |
Description | Certificate endorsing election of Francesco Caruso as a Fellow of the Royal Society, including personal details of the elected Fellow and citing the reasons for election and names of proposers. Signed by Executive Director of the Royal Society, Julie Maxton. |
Citation | Professor Frank Caruso is distinguished for his development of a templated assembly technology to produce nanoengineered particles for biomedical applications. His advances include innovative approaches for drug loading and surface functionalisation of the particles with biomolecules, and utilisation of the particles for targeting cancer/immune cells and bone formation. These particulate systems also underpin new developments in artificial cell research and complex microreactors for biochemical synthesis. The engineered particles offer significant promise in biomedical applications, ranging from therapy and imaging through to their use as cellular mimics and microreactors. |
