Citation | Sebsebe Demissew is proposed for his outstanding contribution to knowledge of the botany of Africa and the substantial contribution that he could make to the Society. He is one of Africa's most distinguished and productive plant scientists. His research has covered several disciplines including ethnobotany, plant chemistry, biogeography and palynology. He is well known internationally far beyond the borders of Ethiopia. He was awarded the 2016 International Medal of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, in acknowledgement of "his lifelong work on promoting Ethiopian biodiversity and the direct benefit this has daily for people in his country, and right across Africa". |
