Citation | Adi Shamir is a world leader in the design and analysis of cryptographic algorithms and protocols. In 1977, he coinvented (with Ron Rivest and Len Adleman) the RSA public-key encryption and signature algorithm, which established public-key cryptography as an indispensible tool. Since then, he has developed many novel types of cryptographic algorithm and novel types of attack on them, and made highly significant contributions to the theory of computing. He has won many of the top prizes, including the Turing Award in 2002, the Grande médaille of the French Académie des Sciences in 2012, and the Japan Prize in 2017. |
