Title | Flint, Jonathan: certificate of election to the Royal Society |
Date | 28 March 2019 |
Description | Certificate endorsing election Jonathan Flint of as a Fellow of the Royal Society, including personal details of the elected Fellow and citing the reasons for election and names of proposers. Signed by the Executive Director of the Royal Society, Julie Maxton. |
Citation | Jonathan Flint's research addresses how inherited traits influence behaviour. Initially he studied chromosomal disorders and discovered the importance of telomeric rearrangements in causing developmental abnormalities in cognition and behaviour. Subsequently he has pioneered the approaches which are now used to identify the genetic components underlying normal variation in behaviour. In particular, he first demonstrated that high resolution mapping, even gene identification, could be achieved using chromosomally mosaic populations. This work has led to an improved understanding of the genetic architecture and molecular mechanisms underlying normal variation and complex disorders. |
