Citation | Véronique Gouverneur is an eminent contributor to organofluorine chemistry. She is distinguished for discovering synthetic and catalytic methods for late-stage fluorination that provide powerful new tools for medicine and pharmacology. Gouverneur is the acknowledged leader worldwide in cutting-edge development of 18F-radiochemistry for PET imaging, through novel synthetic methods and new reagents designed to work on a highly constrained timescale (t1/2 for 18F is ca. 2h.). Her creative work encompassing controlled routes to fluorinated and trifluoromethylated products and 18F-analogues is internationally recognized through numerous endowed lectures and prestigious awards, and her recent labelled (L)-DOPA synthesis will impact strongly on clinical practice. |
