| Citation | Gareth McKinley has a distinguished research record over the past 25 years which has been recognised by the award of the Bingham Medal of the (US) Society of Rheology and the Gold Medal of the British Society of Rheology. He came to the forefront of non-Newtonian fluid mechanics and rheology by his seminal work on flow instabilities, followed by his contribution to extensional rheology of filaments (the Caber rheometer) and the interpretation of largeamplitude oscillatory shear. More recently he has made significant advances in interfacial engineering (colloid science). |
