Citation | Sandra Díaz is a community and ecosystem ecologist who has played a pioneering role in developing the concept of functional trait diversity. Through theoretical, methodological and empirical contributions, she has advanced understanding of how the biological traits of vascular plants influence their vulnerability to environmental change and their effects on ecosystem properties. She has developed the global spectrum of plant form and function. She has led the construction of interdisciplinary and influential frameworks linking nature and people in an ecologically and socially heterogeneous world. These are being used at different scales, from local landscapes to global intergovernmental biodiversity assessments. |
