CitationGordon Brown is best known for the discovery of Dectin-1 and his subsequent work on elucidating the role of C-type lectin receptors in immunity, particularly in the area of antifungal immunity. His research has provided seminal new insights into how immune cells sense microbial pathogens, how this information is transmitted intracellularly, and how these receptors initiate and control innate and adaptive immunity.
