His major contributions include the causes and consequences of geographic variation, the nature, occurrence and causes of natural selection, the balance between natural selection and sexual selection, the development of guppies as a model system in evolutionary biology and behavioural ecology, sensory ecology as a way to predict the direction of evolution, and bowerbirds as a model system for developing new ways to explore how animals perceive their worlds. |
