Title | Nazar, Linda Faye: certificate of election to the Royal Society |
Date | 14 April 2020 |
Description | Certificate endorsing election of Linda Nazar as a Fellow of the Royal Society. Includes personal details of the elected Fellow, citaion giving the reasons for election, and names of proposers. Signed by the Executive Director of the Royal Society, Julie Maxton. |
Citation | Linda Nazar is recognised for her formative contributions to the field of solid state electrochemistry, especially lithium and sodium batteries. She has led advances in the lithium-sulphur battery, including new approaches to mitigate the polysulphide effect, a longstanding problem in the field. Nazar pioneered the understanding of ion and electron transport in lithium and sodium transition metal polyanion intercalation frameworks, and has recently achieved several breakthroughs in solid state superionic conduction. Her work is distinguished by using a blend of cutting edge diffraction, spectroscopic, and lectrochemical physical characterisation tools to probe structure and redox mechanisms, coupled with materials synthesis for "beyond-Li" batteries. |
