Citation | Didier Queloz is distinguished for his contributions to exoplanet science. His discovery, together with Michel Mayor, of the first extra-solar planet initiated a revolution in our understanding of the Universe. He has led discoveries of hundreds of exo-planets, utilising new precision observational techniques now adopted in many wider applications. He was the first to achieve detection of the Rossiter-MacLaughlin effect from a transiting planet, demonstrating the potential of this technique to probe planet formation physics. His seminal work has led to realisation of the diversity of exo-planetary systems, and the field of exobiology. |
