He has been instrumental in identifying a role for human pathogen challenge in vaccine development, opening up scientific opportunities only explorable in humans and made seminal contributions to understanding the biology of typhoid infection and its prevention through vaccination. Other areas of direct impact include meningitis, and pneumonia in children, and more recently COVID-19. |
