DescriptionCertificate endorsing election of Patrick Cramer as a Foreign Member of the Royal Society. Includes personal details of the elected Foreign Member, citation giving the reasons for election, and names of proposers. Signed by the Executive Director of the Royal Society, Julie Maxton.
CitationPatrick Cramer is a world leader in the structural biology of gene transcription and its regulation. He played a leading role in the structure of the first eukaryotic RNA polymerase, and followed this up with two decades of work on how it is regulated by large complexes and how it interacts with chromatin, the natural substrate in the genome of higher organisms. This has often involved pushing methodology to the limits of what can be done.
