Description | Copy of the following item. Translated letter from Fula Torodbe Diallo [renamed by enslaver Job Ben Solomon] recounting his safe arrival to his home in the State of Bundu, by the Gambia river, following his release from captivity and enslavement by the Royal African Company. Recounts his travels and treatment from England, Maryland to Gambia Fort and his home. Letter in English, but one line added in Arabic to thank Mr Ames and Dr Oxley, and Diallo's signature in Arabic. Note added at the end about sending a book and antipoison to Dr Oxley. |
