DescriptionCommunications with the expedition had to go via Commander Dykes, Fleet Communication Officer based at Cape Town, and were transmitted by the navy. The file includes a small number of messages concerning HMS Jaguar's observations near Tristan da Cunha prior to the expedition starting, but the majority of correspondence is between the Royal Society and the expedition and give updates on the expedition's progress. Messages went via various operatives including HMS Protector and HMS Jaguar.
