'All the schemes of which I have heard do apply only to children under 16 and this is also the limit, above which one needs an exit permit. These permits are only issued to mothers accompanying children and to some special categories as people who do work of national importance. I am afraid there is no possibility of sending your boy away. Here is a very strong feeling growing up against the indiscriminate internment and nearly all the important people in Oxford have taken some steps at the Government.
