| Description | 'A few days ago I was approached by two different people in Germany with the following question about which I would like to ask your advice.
The "Bund" intends to do something for those people who have lost their positions with the advent of Hitler and who have not acquired any "pension rights" outside Germany. They intend to make them "Auslands-Professoren" and give them some kind of salary. One person who approached me mentioned that this would apply only to those who had had no official position before as those with an official job would now have a right to draw on a pension; while the other person mentioned that it would include all. Both asked me for list of people who would be eligible.
Well, I do not believe that anything witll ever come of it, but nevertheless one should not give them the excuse that they did not know the names. Could you tell me where one could get a complete list of all those eligible? The matter is of course complicated by the fact that there will hardly exist anyone who has no "pension rights at all". The super-annuation, however, would hardly be sufficient for anyone who came over after the age of 30 or 40 years to keep him alive after retirement; while the German professor is "emeritiert" and draws his last salary until his death (at the present moment I understand that this amounts to about £1000 - £12000 p.a.) I would be very grateful if you could give me some advice.
