TitleCopy Dale to Sir Ronald Adam, British Council
Date14 March 1947
DescriptionAsking to meet privately to discuss points raised by Dr Silow about the reduction in numbers of British Council staff in China and the cancellation of orders for scientific supplies for Chinese universities. Dale feels that the future prestige of other countries in China will depend on the level of their support for the remodelling of Chinese university education along modern lines, and a withdrawal by the British, however necessary, 'will obviously leave the way wide open for the predominance of American influence'
