DescriptionDiscusses editing of E B Chain's chapter in Antibiotics on "The physical and chemical properties of the penicillins" - Rockefeller Foundation suggested he might spend September visiting other laboratories in USA - saw Hans Clarke and visited Wintersteiner - official account of chemistry of penicillin is called "The Chemistry of Penicillin" - Chain and Miss Hedstrom should be told of this as the work has been frequently referred to in chemical section of book - it is hoped that "The Chemistry of Penicillin" will be published in October - discusses information he was given about toxicity of bacitracin - penicillin X is a rare substance - Wintersteiner has promised to send him 100-200 mg - penicillin X modified with a radioactive element might be useful in Sanders' work - structure of streptomycin B (mannosidostreptomycin) has been established by Squibb group, who will send him account of this - Rittenberg was using efficient method of separating amino acids, developed by Moore and Stein - comments on this.
