DescriptionSays H W Florey was pleased to receive the penicillin - has given Florey only a bare outline of Merck's progress in the penicillin field - comments on this - comments on understanding between School of Pathology, Oxford and Imperial Chemical Industries Ltd and on possibility of ICI and the Therapeutic Research Corporation cooperating on all aspects of penicillin problem - seems to have been some interesting progress made at Oxford - comments on this and on two papers on penicillin which were sent to USA - discusses extraction process developed at Oxford - comments on progress of chemical work on penicillin and on improved assay technique - rumour that Burroughs Wellcome have applied for patents covering a new culture medium and two initial stages of a penicillin extraction process - comments on Oxford work on naturally-occurring bacterial inhibitors - culture of Dr Waksman's Aspergillus clavatus has been broken - lists subjects on which, with Merck's permission, he wishes to inform Florey - pleased to have had opportunity of working for Merck.
