TitleLetter from N G Heatley to Jackson W Foster, Merck and Co Inc, Rahway, New Jersey
Date15 January 1943
DescriptionThanks Foster for letter of 30 October - this took over 2 months to reach him - believes Dr Pope and Dr Treven of the Wellcome Foundation will be visiting Merck soon - they will bring some fresh standard [penicillin] prepared by Florey - gives details of assays of Florey's 650 unit per milligram sample which Foster returned and comments on re-assay of three penicillin samples brought from Rahway - has not gone back to penicillin work - had hoped to give information [about Merck's penicillin work] to Therapeutic Research Corporation but only one meeting was arranged - Florey found it was so unsatisfactory trying to deal with commercial firms direct [about penicillin] that he decided to cooperate only through the official bodies - would like to hear about people at Rahway.
