TitleDraft letter, from Sir John Herschel to Dionysius Lardner, dated at Isle of Wight
CreatorJohn Frederick William Herschel
Date25 July 1828
DescriptionDraft letter with extensive revisions and crossing outs in John Herschel's hand. Written at the back of Notice of Council Meeting at the Royal Society of London for 22 May 1828 signed by James Hudson; of a letter by W.S. Stratford regarding a finance committee already used by John Herschel as draft paper for mathematical reckonings; as well as at the back of a letter from Michael Faraday to Sir John Herschel noting a meeting with Mr Dolland. In the letter to Lardner, Herschel has been contemplating a larger work on Light, but thinks he may be able to write a shorter, more popular work for the Cabinet Cyclopaedia. Wonders who the other contributors will be.
