Letter 1: 22 April 1822, letter from Sir John Herschel to Henrik Johan Walbech. Sends first volume of Astronomical Society's Transactions and JH's paper on aberrations ['On the Aberrations of Compound Lenses.' 1821]. Asks for geodesical results at Ãbo.
Letter 2: 23 March 1821, summary of letter from Sir John Herschel to Johann Elert Bode, regrding was elected associate of Astronomical Society. Asks that Society's annual prize be announced in Jahrbuch. Please insert 'Reclamation' of Francis Baily against Jabbo Oltmanns, relative to the eclipse of [Thales?], into next Ephemeris. Send copies of JB's Ephemeris for T. F. Colby and for Society. Refers to seperate letter sent to Giuseppe Piazzi, regarding his election to the Astronomical Society. Subjects of annual prize. What is title of [C.] Brioschi's work?
Letter 3: 1821-1824, summary of two letters sent from Sir John Herschel to Gerard Moll, regarding his election to the Astronomical Society and thanks for his paper on eclipse; and Heinrich Christian Schumacher, regarding his election as associate of the Astronomical Society, this year's prize relates to theory of Saturn's satellites, and asks does his plan to continue his table of apparent places of fixed stars?
Letter 4: 19 April 1821, letter from Sir John Herschel to Joseph Nicholas Nicollet, thanking for his 'Comets Elemts' and book on libration of moon. Please send JN's and J. L. Pons's first observations of comet. Invites JN to become associate of Astronomical Society.
Letter 5: 17 May 1821, letter from Sir John Herschel to Joseph Nicolas Nicollet, sends packet by Mr. Sellique containing report of Astronomical Society council and James South's corrections for June to December 1821.
Letter 6: 31 May 1821, letter from Sir John Herschel to Carl Friedrich Gauss. Sends first report of Astronomical Society council and James South's corrections for June to December 1821.
