DescriptionAutograph letter signed by sender. Offering the original manuscripts of Fayrer's volume 'Poisonous Snakes of India' to the Library of the Royal Society as the illustrations are no longer necessary since the volume is in a second edition.
The illustrations 'from nature' and accurate where painted by artists connected with the Kolkata Art Studio in India, including Annada Prasad Bagchi (1849-1905); Behari lal Das; Hurrish Chunder Khan.
The donation is recorded in Council minutes for that day: Royal Society Minutes of Council, Printed, vol. 4, 1870-1877, p.204, 15 January 1874.
