Title | Copy letter, from Sir John Herschel to Hudson Gurney, dated at Slough |
Creator | John Frederick William Herschel |
Recipient | Gurney; Hudson (1775–1864); antiquary; verse writer. |
Date | 2 January 1831 |
Description | Copy of letter, copied as part of the correspondence project led by Colonel John Herschel FRS following the death of his father. Surprised that Hudson Gurney misinterpreted John Frederick William Herschel's comments to suggest disrespect for Thomas Young. Will not defend them. If Hudson Gurney does not want to include these in Young's biography, then return manuscript to John Frederick William Herschel and destroy all copies of it. |
