Title | Printed letter, from James David Forbes to Pierre Jean Édouard Desor, dated at Edinburgh |
Creator | Forbes; James David (1809 - 1868); natural philosopher |
Recipient | Désor; Edouard (1811-1882) |
Date | 11 March 1842 |
Description | Printed letter written in reply to Desor accusing Forbes of claming a discovery previously known to Mr Agassiz and his 'friends', in his paper on the 'Structure of the Ice of Glaciers' as his own. As this 'injurous assertion' has been well circulated, Forbes was encouraged to write this letter and make his denial 'equally' known. This is a private copy for Sir John Herschel. |
