Title | Letter from G [George Murray] Smith, 45 Pall Mall, to Sir John [Frederick William] Herschel |
Creator | Smith; George Murray (1824-1901); British publisher, businessman, and founder of the Dictionary of National Biography |
Date | 25 October 1862 |
Description | He sends three revises of Book 2 of 'The Iliad'. He has been considering its insertion in the 'Cornhill Magazine', and he thinks the readers would not care to peruse the catalogue of ships, as no translation could render it interesting. He proposes to print the translation up to that point as soon as space can be found, meanwhile printing 100 copies of the complete book for Herschel. He hopes this will be satisfactory. |
