| Description | He has been remiss in not thanking Herschel for his translation of [Friedrich von] Schiller's 'Spaziergang' given via Aleck [Alexander Stewart Herschel], saying it is a blessing to fall back upon the days of their youth. He could never bear Latin verse, having no aptitude for it. He is very busy on his Hulsean Lectures for December, with a sermon at the British Association in Dundee in September, and an essay on the Bible and Science for the Wolverhampton Great Church Conference in October. [George Biddell] Airy has sent his thoughts on Genesis, full of interest and heterodoxy. Pritchard wishes that his brethren would think about such things instead of troubling themselves with birrettas, chasubles and pots of incense. |
