TitleLetter from G [George] Strahan, Camp via Agra, to 'My dear Herschel' [John Herschel]
CreatorStrahan; George (1839-1911) British army oficer and surveyor
Date15 April 1865
DescriptionHe asks when Herschel will go up the hill as he will be in Dehra [Dehradun] from the 24th and he hopes to be able to lodge with Herschel. He takes it for granted that he will have the house in the hot weather. April in camp in Jaypur gives a proper appreciation of the beauties of the Dhoon; the temperature over 100 degrees every day and dust. He asks how Melville is coping with married life and if his wife has induced him to cut his hair. [James Thomas] Walker has found the office 'at sixes and sevens' because of Robinson's slovenliness. Strahan wishes to talk to Herschel abut triangulation at Dehra.
