Title | Letter from Thomas T [Tupper] Carter, Camp, Futehpore [Futehpur], to 'My dear Herschel' [John Herschel] |
Creator | Carter-Campbell; Thomas Tupper (1838-1900); British army officer and surveyor |
Date | no date |
Description | He asks Herschel to send to the post office to get three boxes for [Thomas George] Montgomerie and send them out with the bearer of this note. He should let Montgomerie know if there is more to pay. It is hot in camp and the boxes contain claret, so they are important. Life in camp is slow, therefore Montgomerie has gone into Roorkee. Carter did not go because his only attraction is in Dehra [Dehradun]. He is writing a menu to send off and asks Herschel to send this note to Macpherson. |
