TitleLetter from Pat [Patrick] Murray, Roorkee, to J [John] Herschel, Royal Engineers, Dehra
CreatorMurray; Patrick (1834-1872); British army officer and engineer
Date5 March 1863
DescriptionHe started the cart for Dehra via Hardivaw [Haridwar] thinking that Herschel was wrong to have it on that road. But Herschel has been to the pass since Murray has and should know more about it. Murray is impressed by Herschel's way of ordering business and wishes more people would imitate it. He has had cards printed at the college for their ball, but Batty has not written since, and he presumes the cards were very bad. Murray didn't know the names of half the dances he had down and could not correct the cards. He asks Herschel to tell Tupper that he is waiting for his carte, which he sent to Humphry. He asks when Herschel will come up the hill, noting the weather and the new mess.
