Title | Letter from H [Hastings] Macsween, Dehli, to Jn [John] Herschel, Royal Engineers, Missouree [Missoorie] |
Creator | Macsween; Hastings (fl.1840s-1860s); British army officer |
Date | 25 October 1863 |
Description | He has been a long time in answering Herschel's letter as its contents made him annoyed with himself. He has acted 'like an idiot' and should have made arrangements with Herschel about rent and household expenses. He takes it as a friendly rap over the knuckles and asks to pay Herschel a fair share. He supposes that Mussoorie is quiet again, but he has heard that Stewart is engaged to Miss Smyth. He left his binoculars with Perrin and he asks if Herschel could collect them and arrrange for them to be brought to him. Barnard is to go home on sick leave. Macsween did not make much at the Dehra races and although he will go to Meerut, he cannot bet much there. White did not answer his letter on the theatre tickets. |
