TitleLetter from H [Hastings] Macsween, Dehli, to 'My dr. Herschel' [John Herschel]
CreatorMacsween; Hastings (fl.1840s-1860s); British army officer
Date4 December 1863
DescriptionThere is no condensed powder in the Ordnance Depot and he cannot get cheap powder anywhere. Agra is the large arsenal, with only a small depot in Dehli. He never told anyone that Herschel was engaged and would not spread false reports of that kind. He has been unwell and cannot drink beer. He is going up for P H [?] in January, but he does not think he will pass. There is nothing going on at his present station and he hopes to see Herschel if he moves from Dehra. He asks if Herschel would like to buy either of his horses.
