TitleLetter from Mary Cornwallis Herschel, to [John Herschel]
CreatorHerschel; Mary Cornwallis [formerly Power; née Lipscombe] (1829-1876)
Date31 December [1871]
DescriptionMary thanks John for his explanation of [Lorenzo] Respighi's method and asks further questions to clarify her understanding. John's letter of the 27th was very satisfactory about the new observatory and his dexterous fingers. She agrees with him about light, air and exercise and relates her drive and ramble with Esther, saying that she is always back before sunset. That morning was given up to a headache. She has written to the Bangalore postmaster to ask about missing papers and she is going to order the 'Herald' for John. The death of Major Muir was in that day's number. She is sending Alick's manuscript [Alexander Stewart Herschel] that day.
