CreatorHerschel; Mary Cornwallis [formerly Power; née Lipscombe] (1829-1876)
Date22 March 1872
DescriptionJohn's letter, received yesterday, was sad, and death was near. She asks why he is still directing mail to Coonoor, as mid-March was fixed as the end of her time there. The weather is as hot as Bangalore and she cannot write, intending to have her morphine injection soon. She has already written five letters for the English mail. She thinks he must not have her letter of 2 March and she went on directing to Nandair Akola. She lunched with Mrs Saxton and her step-daughter, describing Mrs Saxton's singing. She notes a bill of lading and apologises for the ink, being unable to get a small bottle of black ink.
