TitleLetter from William James Herschel, to 'Dearest Mother' [Margaret Brodie Herschel]
CreatorHerschel; Sir William James; second baronet (1833-1917); British developer of fingerprinting and judge
Date[July 1865]
DescriptionHe has little to add to his wife's letter. It is strange to read accounts of the election in England. He compares this to the 'childish gabble of the young Bengal party'. He is glad to hear about the cottages and asks if he might assist. He wished he had known of Alick's visit to the Pyrenees as he would have liked to send him some help. They are getting on well from a financial point of view and Emma is methodical in her accounting. At present he has £1,300 per year while he lives and £1,000 after that.
