DescriptionThe mail starts again and they have had no further news from home [on the death of Sir John Frederick William Herschel]. He is keenly disappointed and has had no word from Johnny [John Herschel] in response to their telegram. Their longing is to return home quickly, but hey will not be able to for some years. He wishes to support his mother, but must carry on with daily duties. He gives news of Emma, the doctor not allowing her to move from bed, and of his mother's grandson.
