Title | Letter from J A [Joseph Alfred] Hardcastle, The Dial House, Crowthorne, Berkshire, to 'Dear Uncle Willie' [Sir William James Herschel] |
Creator | Hardcastle; Joseph Alfred (1868-1917); British astronomer |
Date | 18 May 1911 |
Description | He sends the second sheet of a letter from Dreyer and he hopes that Sir William can answer his queries from Holden. Hardcastle has never heard of [Robert] Southey's 'The Doctor', nor of Pfaff's Lexicon. He mentioned to Dreyer a linen bundle he has seen at Slough and asks if this might be sent to Dreyer, if he wishes to see it. He cannot accept Dreyer's invitation to go to Ireland. |
