Description | He cannot come to see his uncle, but says he is at Beauleah at last, the examinations over. His uncle should tell the family that he has passed there and he thinks he will be passed by the Calcutta [Kolkata] Central Committee. He is in a house of his own, very pretty, but badly situated 200 yards from the river. He will not sent the picture he promised, giving the reason; he grieves that his uncle is going, but intends to immerse himself in 'cutchery and photography'. He is in a rage at not having a stereoscope of his family. He mentions boar-hunting and means to provide himself with a concertina from home. |
