| Creator | Stewart; Alexander (1764-1821); British Presbyterian minister and Gaelic scholar |
| Recipient | Stewart [née Calder]; Emilia (1780-1855); British |
| Date | No date [1809] |
| Description | Alexander notes their exchanges of letters, confining himself to a few words in expectation of a bearer. He describes the emptiness of the house and his lack of sleep. He gives a account of Catherine and 'Miss H' and visits received. The wine tub continues to ferment slowly but he thinks it ought to be casked. Alexander refers to speech of Lord Gambier and the favourable sentence of the court, which she will read with pleasure [presumably referrring to Admiral Lord James Gambier's court-marshal]. The bearer has now arrived and Alexander concludes with remarks on Emilia's caution about visiting Kinnairdy and the behaviour of unnamed individuals there. He gives thanks to her for remembering his coat and saddle-bags, more details of casking wine, and delivery of goods to Cromarty. |
