| Creator | Stewart; Alexander (1764-1821); British Presbyterian minister and Gaelic scholar |
| Recipient | Stewart [née Calder]; Emilia (1780-1855); British |
| Date | 11 April [1812? watermarked 1810] |
| Description | He has arrived safely on his way to Dingwall. He received Emilia's letter in Edinburgh and intends to be in Inverness on Saturday of next week. He thinks it would not be appropriate to have someone take his luggage tot he ferry on the Sabbath, or be met by a boy and horse. He proposes to bring Margaret Small as a visitor to Dingwall, explaining his reasoning, and apologising for not being able to consult Emilia. They would travel together on the Inverness coach, via Foncastle and he seesn it as 'an unfortunate consequence' of his journey south. He notes the poeple he has seen in Edinburgh, including Dr. Buchanan, Dr. Campbell and his own sister from Glasgow. He proposes to call upon Mrs. Graham to see his two nieces. |
