TitleSir John Harvey
ArtistLynch, James Henry
Datec.1850
DescriptionThis print was likely acquired by Edward Sabine on the basis it depicted Sir Robert John Harvey (1785 - 1860), British banker, who was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1835. This print actually shows Sir John Harvey (1778-1852), British military officer and Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia, Canada who was not a Fellow.

John Harvey’s head is portrayed in the most detail with his military jacket minimally sketched out below. He is shown turned to the right and is looking out towards the viewer. Lithograph after a chalk and charcoal drawing by Stephen Pearce (1819-1904) with red highlights to Harvey’s cheeks, lips and the lapel of his jacket.
