DescriptionMainly contains correspondence relating to Nye's research team testing their radio echo sounding methods during the 1974/75 Antarctic research season, after they were forced to pull out of the prior season [see JFN/1/25]. The team members sent to Antarctica were Michael Walford, Robert Oakberg and Patrick Holdorf. The file includes details of the team's equipment requirements and arrangements for logistical support. Also contains correspondence between Nye and his team in Antarctica, particularly concerning adjustments made to the research schedule after one member was taken ill at the South Pole. The folder also includes some manuscript notes by Nye. Principal correspondents include: John Findlay, Michael Walford, Joseph Fletcher, George Llano, Robert Oakberg and Patrick Holdorf.
