DescriptionRelates to Nye's application to the awards scheme on behalf of himself and his colleague, Dr J [Joseph] V Hajnal [Hajnal was Nye's Postdoctoral Research Assistant]. The application was based on their work on the 'Measurement and interpretation of the detailed structure of microwave fields', and they won the award in 1986 which came with £4000 in prize money. The file includes a copy of the application, as well as correspondence about the award and a news cutting from 'The Times Higher Education Supplement'. Also contains correspondence from 1987 with Ray King, at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in California, congratulating Nye on his award and asking for more details on his research.
